Kids and I drove back yesterday from spending Thanksgiving in Texas with my family. We celebrated my folks' 50th wedding anniversary, and they wanted all the kids there, so we sat 22 for T'giving dinner.
The trip down was uneventful. Finally got all the kids out of school by Tuesday noon and the car packed and we left at 1:30pm... and arrived at 3:45am. This was the first time we drove the trip straight through, usually we do it in two days. But I couldn't get kids out early from school, so we had to do it in a day. The pat on the back for me is that I let the three kids do all the driving, which is a huge concession for a control-freak like me. They did a good job and we arrived safe and sound.
We had a wonderful visit with all the family and lots of good food. Then kids and I repacked the van and left at 9:15am and arrived home about 11:30pm. I did most of the driving on the way back, as one kid drove the beginning couple hours, and the other kid drove the last couple hours. (I left my eldest son down there to do the heavy lifting for Grandpa who needs to do a bunch of work on the house). Another uneventful trip, which was very nice.
But today I'm wiped. Just took the youngest to school and I'm heading back to bed, and I suspect I'm going to sleep most of the day away. I'm so not a people person and after spending 2 days in the car with my kids and 4 days in a house with 20+ people... I'm drained to the dregs.
Hopefully, I'll be up and about tomorrow, because my to-do list seems endless.
