Better Day, Láadan & Happy Easter

Feeling better today, and actually got some done on the edit. The 1st chapter is done, except where I'll be adding in backstory that comes out when I rip out the next three scenes. So, I have a little momentum going, we'll see if I can keep it up.

Also working on the Láadan dictionary again. I thought I'd blogged about it before, but it's not in the archive, so I guess not. Anyway, check out Suzette Haden Elgin's Láadan Pages and her explanation is all there. Me, being the perfectionistic control freak that I am, decided I didn't like the way the original dictionary was arranged, so I'm working on my own, for my own edification. Suzette is a neat lady, and is helping me.

Now, as a technical writer in several past working lives, I've worked with a bunch of specialties, translating specialty-talk into plain English. Working with Suzette, I've discovered the coolest thing about working with a linguist is that all the geeky linguist-words that I don't know... are in the dictionary!! How cool is that!! :-)

Láadan is a cool puzzle. How does a woman perceive the world in ways English doesn't express well, and making a language that easily expresses those perceptions. Fun Stuff!!!

And... Happy Easter!! Kids are at the Ex's for the weekend. He made Easter dinner and invited me over, and that was fun... except my pecan pie was too done, and something wheat hid somewhere in the dinner, and my stomach is really upset. Ah well, it was worth it to not have to cook, and to leave the kids there and come back to a quiet house for a couple more hours.

So... tomorrow, I edit, and clean, and work on DucKon stuff, and grocery shop, and cook, and... yeah, right... some sub-set of those anyway.
