I typed in 3000 new words on my story today, but it feels like it was cheating because they were long-hand words, and not original words I typed at the computer. It is cheating to say I did 3000 words today when I wrote them yesterday and the day before?
But the cool thing is I'm officially over the 50k word mark. YAH!! It feels good to know I really can get past the first 10k words. And the plot took another little twist while I was typing words in, so it's fun even at that point I can still be surprised.
Beyond that. Yesterday was a writing waste because I spent the whole day researching. THERE IS A REASON I SWORE I WOULDN'T WRITE HISTORICAL! On top of everything else, I found the most obvious publisher for my book... is English. Crap! At this point I'm feeling like 'why bother' because there's no way I can catch all the historical accuracy glitches. I had to go through today and yank out all the "hello's", because that greeting didn't come into popular usage until after the telephone came into being. I was surprised that only one had snuck in there.
The good news is that the words are flowing faster than I can get them typed in. Long-hand really seems to be working well, because when I go to type them all kinds of new plot things occur to me, so it ends up much better than if I had just typed it straight. And I'm starting to worry this is going to be too long... but maybe I can wrap it up in the next 20k words. If I can't, then I'll find another publisher, or cut stuff. Easier to cut than to add words.
So... it was a good day all around. Took kid driving. He's getting much better. Took car into shop, expecting huge bill. It was low on brake fluid, no charge. Had lunch with a friend. Got tomato plants into the ground, finally. It's quiet without #4-son, but I miss him. So... can't complain! :-)
