Book Fodder
The Ex is now married, and I'm completely baffled.
He told the kids over Thanksgiving that he and the live-in girlfriend were getting married someday.
He called me Friday afternoon [day #1], and warned me (I'd chewed him a new one when I heard from the kids that the girlfriend was moving in and told him that he needed to warn mebefore he told significant stuff to the kids so I could prepare a neutral response) that he and girlfriend were getting married ONLINE sometime that weekend.
He told the kids (who were with me for the weekend) on Saturday night [day #2] that he was getting married Sunday afternoon [day #3], and that he'd email them with the name of the AOL chat room...
... completely disregarding the fact that during the time he picked for the wedding one kid had to work and another kid was away visiting friends.
So I'm dealing with "He picked the date and time convenient for everybody but his kids" and "Well, we now know where we fall on Dad's priority list".
I'm angry that I'm the one that gets to deal with the fallout, and I'm baffled... what the f--k was he THINKING?!?!? I'd thought him far too smart to pull something like this.
Ah, well... life remains interesting. And here's hoping that whatever he was thinking works out in the end.
And I find this whole thing so unbelievable that it's definitely going to make its way into a book someday, and nobody is going to believe me that it really happened.
