Worked Today In My Spare Time
Submitted by jlpowers on Mon, 08/10/2009 - 10:34pmBlessings upon my boss for being understanding.
So, starting off with that, I worked today, because I really needed the money, unfortunately having to work didn't negate everything else that had to be done today, so I actually didn't even start working until 4pm today. But I put in four hours on not-critical-but-useful stuff for work, so that's good.
And before 4pm, I actually got a fair number of things checked off my to-do list for today. Make note, that was only today's to-do list, not the overall to-do list, but I guess every little bit helps.
It also helped that today I realized I've been wallowing in victim-mode for the last few days. When I recognize what's going on, I can deal with it, and as soon as I realized what was up, I knew why I was thinking that way, so I'm now working on thinking a more productive way. It's not an immediate fix, but it's a start.
#2-son is supposed to be heading home tomorrow. Don't know what his plans are for the school-year. Since his father said he couldn't co-sign any more school loans it threw all #2-son's college plans out the windows. **sigh** Hate to see that happen, but nothing I can do about it, so life goes on. We'll see what we can work out once kid gets home from Texas.
Good news is that #1-son is old enough that he finally doesn't need a co-signer on his loans, and his loan got approved, so he's set for his senior year, which is a real relief.
My folks are due in town either Wednesday or Thursday to spend a couple days with the kids before kids start heading off to school. #3-son moves into his dorm this Saturday, which is why parents are coming in now.
Put children to work cleaning. Told them that I had to pay the bills, so they could clean for Grandma and Grandpa. The living room and art room are much improved, and hopefully more will be done tomorrow.
In amongst everything else, I thought more on Jane's book. I'm fleshing out the characters and backstory, and finding out some really interesting stuff. I'd thought this would be a less character-heavy book, but not-surprisingly, that's not going to be the case. Jane is turning out to be an even a more complex character than Sarah was, which I think is lots of fun. Straight-forward characters are boring... and she's definitely not boring.
I'm still not sure that Jane's book will be the next one, since Gwen's is basically an edit, rather than a write from scratch, but it's a big edit, so I'm not sure it really would be any faster. Decisions, decisions. But thinking-time on Jane isn't wasted, no matter what book I work on next.
