When I started this one, I was leery because there was the chance the author would slide into gratuitious violence, which I find more and more romance authors doing, which completely confuses me. But Ms. Day walked the line very well, and I wasn’t put off in the least. Yes, bad things happened to the hero, but they were referred to and not spelled out in gross gory detail. Well done.
