Job Hunt Status Report

No job, yet. I found two jobs, either of which would be quite acceptable: reasonable pay, short commute, flexible hours, casual dress, telecommute when kids are sick, and I know enough to be productive from the start. But the first place just called and told me I'm still in the running, but the boss put the hiring date off for a couple months. And the second place, is well known for being horribly slow about the time it takes to hire people. <sigh> So I'm still looking.

But the good news is that there are major advantages living in a low-income area... free after-school programs for my middle-school kids and my high-school kid. Wow! That is a huge load off my mind.

The other good news is that this time has been productive. I've gotten a lot of long-waiting projects done. The house has far fewer things stacked and waiting to be sorted. I had time to spend with my folks when they spent a week visiting. My kids are settling into the routine of having their brother off to college. And the rest of my life is unusually caught up.

So, I can't complain. :-)
