Family Visiting
I love to have my family visit, but this visit reminded me of a line in a Tom Chapin song my kids loved when they were little: "I love you see your cousins come, I love to see them go". My youngest brother, wife, mother-in-law, and three kids 6-and-under... I'd forgotten what chaos that was. One of the times I was up in my room hiding from them, it occurred to me that I had four kids 7-and-under... whew! How did I do it? I love them all, I had a great time with them while they were here, and I was really glad to see them go.
And this weekend another brother is up visiting. He had a business trip about 3-hours south of there and rented a car and drove up to spend the weekend with us. It's his first visit, and I'm thrilled that he's here, but it meant that the kids wanted to stay home this weekend instead of going to their father's, which means I've had them four weekends in a row, and I'm going absolutely insane!
All the visiting on top of all the kids summer-stuff means that I haven't gotten a bit of writing done, which I hate. I've been trying to use the time to do worldbuilding for 'Triad' and I'm slowly getting there, but last week I spent the whole week sleeping, and suspect this one will be much the same... I'm counting down the days until summer-school is done and the kids go off to their father's for two weeks and I have a chance to think again. How do the women with little kids write? I can't write with mine in the house.
But now, off to lunch, then to SciTech, which will keep both my brother and my kids entertained while I try and find a quiet corner to either read/work or depending on how quiet maybe I'll take a badly needed nap.
