Sidetracked: When Did I Start 1st Mscpt?
Submitted by jlpowers on Mon, 07/13/2009 - 11:31amI have so much that I should be doing that I'm completely overwhelmed, and so much of it is stuff that I don't want to do which isn't helping in the least... so I let myself get sidetracked.
When did I begin to write my very first manuscript? Gwen & Doug's story?
So, went up to my closet, pulled out my old journals... turns out they weren't in order like I thought, so had to put them into order, then begin thumbing through them... and finally found it:
Journal entry 5/25/2001 (Friday 11pm): I started a book last night, as in writing a book. Yesterday the first chapter just flowed out of me. Kind of cool. :-) A lot of polishing to do, but it's definitely a start. It's fun to watch the characters. They do things that I don't expect. Like the 2nd male lead, I thought to call him Jim, but he introduced himself to the female lead as Doug. *chuckle* He should know his name better than I do, so I went along with it.
So, I officially started the book on 5/24/2001... eight years ago.
Now, is the question: Is it sad that it's not done yet?
Or is the question: Isn't it great now much I've learned in the last 8 years?
It's probably a combination of both questions.
But, now that my distraction-question has been answered, it's probably best if I actually do something useful.
