I Didn't Break It
I sent the new 1st four chapters of the book off to get an opinion from the gal who fell in love with it the first time.
And while she doesn't necessarily like the changes, because she really liked it so much the first time, she said I definitely didn't break the story.
So that's very good news. It's always a worry that in the process of fixing it that I make it worse than it was to begin with. To be assured that's not the case is a big help.
And tomorrow dinner is an editing session with a first time reader of the story who is going to have a lot of things to say, so that should prove interesting.
Now I need to work on chapter 5 (old chapter 3), which I think will stay pretty much the same, so I'm hoping a simple and quick edit there.
Then the 1st five chapters will be off to several more people to read to see if I actually did fix the problem.
My fingers are crossed. :-)
