Rude Awakening

Posted in

This day has been a day of rude awakenings.

I've been pondering how to strengthen my hands, because I know they're a little weak, and I've been pondering how long it's been since I actually did anything beyond a gentle walk. So today I put #4-son to work hauling mulch while I weeded. Jeez-oh-petes! I found out how long it's been since I've done any exercise and exactly how weak my hands are. *sigh* Got that small task done, and I'll do more tomorrow, because now I know how to strengthen my hands... weeding! :-) (Read more)

Not The Day I Planned

I had planned to get all this stuff done today, until #1-son came to me and begged me to take him down to a hospital where his girlfirend is sitting at her dying grandmother's bedside. My kid's motivation was cool, and his heart was in the right place... but damn-it-all! the blasted hospital was an hour away. *sigh* So, I gave in and drove him down there, then came home, hoping that he'd get a ride home, but no such luck, so I went down and picked him up. Four hours in the car today instead of doing what I'd intended to do. The good news is that I made him feel guilty enough that he's finally seriously considering getting his drivers license so that he can drive himself on these kinds of trips. That'll be a relief. Rain, Rain Go Away

I like rain... rain is much better than drought. But, jeez-oh-petes! Enough is enough! (Read more)

You Know...

It's been a hell of a week already. (Read more)

Interview Tomorrow

I'm back from Texas, more on that tomorrow (although I will say that I have to ice my right knee down tonight... it's reminding me how long it's been since I've driven a long distance without cruise control). And I got my synopsis done before I left, and my contest entry sent off, so that was good. And kid is back, safe, sound, and maybe a little wiser.

But the big news is that I have an interview tomorrow.

Synopsis War

I think I won the Synopsis War... and it only took me four days. Good for me! :-) (Read more)

The Last Piece

Posted in

Tonight, the last piece finally fell into place for the plot of my story. FINALLY!!!

It' s the brother!! He's the one causing all of the problems that I was trying so hard to attribute to other people.

Before I knew it was him, I couldn't figure out how this nice gal could possibly have so many enemies. But she doesn't, because the brother is behind everything. Ah-hah!

And if you go back to my Torturing Characters post, where I talk about her parents showing up... I never knew what prompted her parents' arrival... and it turns out, that's the brother, too. Or should I say, the brother's untimely demise prompts her parents to show up on her doorstep. The brother died without kids. Daddy-dearest wants grandkids to leave his "empire" to. And as far as Daddy is concerned, that means it's now my heroine's job to have those kids... except that she's barren... and so on, and so on. (Read more)

Getting Organized

I finally figured out that my hang-up on chapter 2 was the fact that I don't know what needs to be foreshadowed into that chapter.  (Read more)

The Lottery Game

I've been working on the concept of drawing things that I want to me, rather than drawing things that I don't want. And, of course, money is a big thing on my list of things I want. So, I've been pondering drawing money to me. (Read more)

200th Post

I was going to blog about something else when I noticed the number of posts, and decided to spend an entry acknowledging the feat. (Read more)

I Edited

Posted in

I edited today. Yah for me! :-)

And I won't give myself a hard time because I didn't get very far, because I read over the first chapter, and like the new transition. It's completely in character, and I put in a hint of something into the first chapter, which makes it fall right into place. And it worked out well. So, my fight for the last... how long?... checking... around 4 months is finally over, the transition from chapter 1 to chapter 2 is done.

As I write that last sentence, I'm not sure if that's a sad thing (it taking so long for something seemingly so simple) or a happy thing (I'm not stuck). But I said I wouldn't give myself a hard time, so I won't... it's a happy thing. :-)

Plus, I got a whole bunch of other stuff done, which somewhat whittled down my to-do list. It helps that I keep an actual list, and that way I can see what I got done today. It doesn't feel quite so pointless. So, lots done, again a happy thing. :-) (Read more)
